Connection between diabetes and loss of appetite?

I read everywhere that a sign of diabetes is "extreme hunger." But is there a connection between diabetes and almost complete loss of appetite? I’ve heard both are true and that it is different for everyone.
Wait, which one is right? Yall both said opposite things.

This would be for type one diabetes only really.

On one hand, the lack of insulin means the body cannot use the blood glucose that is present from daily meals. The body resorts to breaking down the fat stores, muscle stores to generate energy for the body. This creates weight loss. The breakdown of these secondary stores can promote hunger.

However, in the majority of cases, the sky-high blood glucose causes severe nausea and vomiting, abdominal cramps and general malaise. You can imagine in this state a person isnt feeling too great and isnt that hungry.
