Are there any homemade recipes or concoctions for whitening teeth using household ingredients?

I’d like to whiten my teeth, but don’t want to use the bleach kits found in stores…does baking soda mixed with peroxide work?

I believe it does. It really foams up though. Both of those products are good at cleaning your whole mouth. Makes sense that they would whiten. Also, alot of toothpastes have baking soda in them anyway.

My grandmother used peroxide. She also put some Arm & Hammer baking soda onto a wet toothbrush, and brushed her teeth with that. She said that after about a two weeks of doing this twice a day, your teeth will whiten up.

I used one of those bleach kits, it didn’t work for me. My brother used a peroxide/baking soda mixture and it started to whiten his teeth around the edges, but then he got impatient and used a whitening kit, which made his teeth disturbingly white.

People have been using the peroxide and soda mix for decades. Try looking for a dentist who will give a free cleaning with a check-up. That’s how I started mine. The difference was absolutely amazing. I buy more gel and do touch-ups before an interview or big date, or just periodically. The dentist thing is the best way…

Baking soda and peroxide wont harm the teeth, but the best person to give you advice on home whitening is your dentist.
I understand that having the dentist whiten the teeth can work out more expensive, but at least you have a professional on hand to ensure that the treatment is right for you and that it’s actually working.
