What kind of discipline is Yoga? how does it improve your health and your physical condition?

I am willing to start making some exercise, but i cannot make my mind if i should try yoga or go to a gym.
I have never done any sport, i’m bad with that, and i believe i have not a good physical condition, altougth i’m not fat or anything like that.
I am just convinced that i need to make something with my body for healt, and because my work is mostly sitted in front of my computer, and as much as i like it, i know it’s stressing.

I want to start taking yoga. Is it really good for you? How often do you go and how much does it cost?

Also, is yoga something that you need to be in shape already to start? In other words, do they work you into it, or it will it kick your butt if you’re a little out of shape?

Any good albums you listen to at home to do pilates, meditate and do yoga? I haven’t do this for my research for my novel, since I’m not flexible to do yoga and pilates. But any preferences of any music to do it to, from pilates and yoga instructors, and any one who takes the classes? I’ve listed Michael Bublé in my novel. Would he be good too?

I used to walk everyday but I took up yoga and pilates and I did not have time for a 40 minute walk everyday anymore. I want to start running or jogging because I would have time to run for at most 20 minutes a day. How do I start? Do I do yoga and pilates before running?
